Noah Oppenheim to Adapt ‘Allegiant’ for the Screen

movienews

Insurgent hasn’t even wrapped and we already know who will be adapting Allegiant for the big screen! Not an easy task, that’s for sure! Noah Oppenheim, who previously worked on the screenplay for The Maze Runner, has signed on to do the same for Allegiant. Right now, however, the deal just included part one of the two movie project.

Noah Oppenheim, who wrote the screenplay for YA adaptation The Maze Runner, will adapt Veronica Roth’s third novel for the big screen. The third book is being split into two films; Oppenheim is currently signed on to write the third film, Part 1. Shailene Woodley and Theo James star in Summit’s dystopian franchise, which is set in a futuristic Chicago where people are divided into groups by certain values. Summit already has slated release dates for all three remaining films, with the third book Allegiant being broken up into two films. Insurgent hits theaters on March 20, 2015, Allegiant: Part 1 follows one year later on March 18, 2016 and Part 2 will hit on March 24, 2017. Because the films are slated just one year apart from each other, it makes sense that producers would want to get a writer working on Allegiant while Insurgent is still shooting.
