Dauntless Headquarters

Description This area is located far from town. There is an entry that requires jumping down into a hole through the roof of a building , it is seven stories high. The ceilings slope, and the walls are made of stone. The tunnels that make up the hallways are lit in long intervals, creating large dark spaces.

function The main part of Dauntless HQ. There are stores as well as entrances to the dining hall and living quarters.

Description Large underground cavern with uneven rock walls that rise several stories high. Built into the stone walls are places for food, clothing, supplies, and leisure activities. Narrow paths and steps are carved from rock and connect each place. The roof is made of glass panes. Above the panes of glass is a glass building that lets light into the Pit. There are blue lanterns dangling at long intervals above all the stone paths that grow brighter as the sunlight dies. The path have no railings and are narrow.

Description Located on the right side of the Pit. The floor of the Chasm drops off at a sharp angle. It has very little lighting and an iron railing that surrounds it. The railing is narrow and made of metal, it gets slippery and cold because of the river spraying it. The river is located several stories below. The water is fast-moving and black. The rocks surrounding it are jagged.

Description A narrow path from the pit leads to this area. The path is hard to see because it blends in with the rock. The rocks that surround it form an unsteady ground, rising up at harsh angles from the rushing water. Some rocks are flatter than others. The roar of the chasm creates a private place.

Description The entrance is a gaping hole through the a wall in the Pit. It’s well lit and lined with tables.

Description A room with ten beds, the beds are bunk-beds. Under the bottom bed are drawers. There is a chalkboard on one of the walls where the initiates rankings are kept. On another wall is a small mirror.

Description A huge room with wood floors that are cracked and creaky. There is a large circle (the Arena) painted in the middle of the room and a green chalkboard on the left wall used to write the fight pairings for each match. Faded black punching bags hang at three foot intervals along one end of the room. When the room is being used for knife practice, there is a table filled with knives and a large target at the end of the room.

This area functions as a place for the Dauntless members to go when they are injured or sick so they don’t have to make the trek all the way to the city hospital.

Description A large, narrow room with a row of beds on either side. Some of the beds have curtains between them. On the right side of the room is a nurse’s station.

Description This building is located above the chasm and the Pit. It is made entirely of glass. There are ropes used for tight-walking stretched above the top of the room. This room leads to the fear landscape. There is an exit that leads right to the train tracks.

Description Inside the room is a wall with targets on it. The targets are made up of one square of plywood with three red circles. The targets line one wall and a table with guns is located on the other side.

Description Located on a narrow path in the Pit. There are books of pictures (tattoos) and artwork on the walls (tattoos). There is a counter with stacks of paper on it. The area is divided into two rooms.

Description This is one room inside of the tattoo parlor. A curtain surrounds the room and there are a few chairs, spare tattoo needles, ink, and pads of papers laying around. There is framed artwork on the walls.

Description The apartment walls are plain white except for the words “Fear God Alone” which is painted on one of them. There is an attached bathroom and refrigerator in the corner of the room. The bed has a blue patchwork quilt on it. There is a chair and a desk. On the wall opposite the bed, there is a small mirror.

function This is where the final phase of initiation, the fear landscape, occurs.

Description The Fear Landscape is located just beyond the glass building that is above the pit. It’s a huge dank space with graffitied walls and exposed pipes. The room is lit by a series of old fashioned fluorescent tubes with plastic covers. The word Dauntless is spray painted in red artistic lettering on one of the concrete walls. During the Fear Landscapes there are large screens set up for other Dauntless members to watch as the initiates go through their fears. Off to the side there is a large room that contains a screen for the Dauntless leaders to watch and monitor the Fear Landscapes.
