Best I’ve Read Interviews Veronica Roth

Veronica Roth was interviewed over at the Best I’ve Read blog this week.

BIR: Once Divergent got it’s basic shape, did you know the story arc for the other 2 books also, or is the story line still evolving?

VR:  I had to write a semi-detailed outline of book two before Divergent sold, and a vague outline of book 3 right after, so I have a good idea of the direction the story is going in. That said, I realized as I wrote book 2 that a lot of my outline was going to change, so I don’t think I’m ever really sure what’s going to happen until I start writing. Until my last draft, actually! One of my writing mottos is that no one and nothing should be “safe”– anything can go at any time.

BIR: If Tris and Four had to describe one another in 3 words, what 3 words would they use?

VR: Ooh, good question! Tris, for Four: “Thoughtful, strong, frustrating.”Four, for Tris: “Brave, incisive, impulsive.”
